I thought there was already a thread on this build here, and I was just gonna add some pictures. But since there’s not a thread, I’ll start it.
Thanks to CK and Nem for showing me the fun that is chocolate farming.
Chocolate farming? Well, much like folks refer to red colored vermin killin’ as tomato farming, farming the Shiro’Ken outside Harvest Temple is chocolate farming due to their prevailing brown color.
This is basically the Spirit Bond farmer, and you can read a detailed explaination here: guild wiki guide to spirit bonding
To farm the Shiro’Ken, you’ll want either Monk/mesmer or Mesmer/monk – the whole point is to turn the Shiro’Ken Ranger’s Famine spirit against the whole mob by using SV/AV to drain their energy.
CK does it with his mesmer, Nem & I do it with our monks.
I run:
Illusion Magic 10
Inspiration Magic 10
Protection Prayers 11 + 3 + 1
Divine Favor 7
(I think those atts are right, I can’t run GW here at work to look. If my math is off, the DF is probably less.)
Spirit Bond
Protective Spirit
Ancestor’s Visage
Sympathetic Visage
Mantra of Resolve
Balthazar’s Spirit
Essence Bond
Blessed Aura
The basic theory is to cast the maintained enchants, let your energy charge back to full, cast Mantra of Resolve, let your energy charge back up to close to full, hit Protective Spirit then start running down the stairs. When you get close to the first mob cast Spirit Bond. Keep running. You want to run all the way around the edge of the temple and gather all the Shiro’ken. Keep a very close eye on Spirit bond and Protective Spirit. If they go down, you die. Cast Mantra of Resolve before trying to recast protective spirit. You can survive Spirit Bond being down for a few seconds, you can’t survive Protective Spirit being down.
You’ll want to gather all the melee and then pull them up to the cluster of rangers so you’re all in a tight group. Make sure your Protective Spirit is fresh, keep up with the Spirit Bond. When you’ve got a good pool of energy (which should be quick given the attacks on you) cast Mantra of Resolve and try to get Ancestor’s Visage up followed by Sympathetic Visage. At least one of them will be interrupted, even with Resolve. Hopefully you’ll get the other up. If you get both up, bonus, but you only need one. If they both get interrupted, just keep Spirit Bond up until they both recharge and try again.
Once you get one of them up, the numbers get very pretty and things die.

This takes some practice, but it’s much more forgiving than 55 monking – because you can go in there with full health. You can even replace Blessed Aura with Vital Blessing to bring your health up even further.
My variation on this build for farming Minotaurs in Elona Reach, trolls in the cave outside Droks, and pretty much any place where you don’t have pesky mesmers or necros stripping your enchants is:
Smiting Prayers 12 + 1
Protection Prayers 11 + 1 + 3
Divine Favor 8 (or the rest, whatever)
Spirit Bond
Protective Spirit
Shield of Judgement {e}
Blessed Signet
Retribution
Essence Bond
Balthazar’s Spirit
Blessed Aura
With this one, you’ll have no energy pips, but Blessed Signet gives you 12 energy (4 maintained enchants * 3 per) which is plenty good for when you need it, most of the time Balth & Essence will keep you in plenty of energy.
Retribution provides steady killin’ and Shield of Judgement speeds them to their demise.
Last night, Sami and I went into the UW with a small change, dropping Blessed Aura for Power Drain to deal with the ^%$#ing Dying Nightmares. She ran N/Me SS/AV/SV. Was quite fun. Much faster than trapping, things die *quick.* Got an ecto apiece.

I’d like to monkey with it some more, like possibly doing it with a N/Mo battery/succor to see if I can afford running Holy Wrath in addtion to Retribution, or another monk running Holy Wrath plus Zealot’s Fire nuking off me.
For pure speed of farming, the Shiro’Ken run out of Harvest Temple is your best bed. The run takes about 3 minutes and they tend to net about 1-2k per run in dropped coin & merched crap drops. Occasionally a nice gold will drop. The UW run is *fun* though.
Anyway, I’m just reporting – creds to CK & Nem and the original Spirit Bond farmers. Have fun!
